Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • We are a custom lens solutions company, specializing in putting the very best polarized and prescription lenses into any frame for replacement or upgrade purposes. We specialize in our polarized lens offerings due to our patented polarized lens technology and also offer the very best prescription lens products on the market, for half of what you would pay for similar quality from a brand or your eye doctor. Our lenses are made in Japan at our family-owned independent lens making facility and custom-cut and assembled in our modern digital laboratory in California.
  • If your frames are in good shape still, there are a few key reasons to replace your lenses instead of buying a full new pair:
  • Doing your part for our planet and being more sustainable by reusing frames you already have, thereby extending their life and keeping them out of the landfill.
  • You’ll be upgrading your glasses as our lenses are guaranteed to be superior to your originals. Whether you have standard sunglass lenses or prescription lenses, we’re confident our lenses will be an upgrade from your original lenses!
  • It’s less expensive than buying a complete new pair from a quality brand or your eye doctor.
  • Finally, you can continue to use and enjoy your favorite glasses!
  • You’ll start by identifying your frames here (or go through our custom lens replacement if you don’t know / can’t find your frame), select your new lenses (polarized, clear, transitions, prescription, non-prescription, etc), then place your order. We’ll send you the new lenses for your own installation or do the lens replacement for you. Check out this link to learn more about How Tajima Direct Works.
  • All Tajima polarized lenses are made of our patented Tajima Urethane lens material. Prescription clear and transitions lenses will be made of Trivex. You can learn more about these materials on our lens technology page here.
  • There are many elements that go into crafting high quality lenses, specifically lens materials, coatings, and lens designs (for Rx lenses). We only offer one flat fee in each of our lens offerings that comes standard with the very best in all of those categories. You can learn more about our lens materials, coatings, lens designs, and more about our lens technology here.
  • Once you identify your frames and get to our product page, you can open up our lens chart popup or click through the different lens colors to get images and descriptions to help!

  • Any frame style that is available to order the lenses for your own installation will have a difficulty associated with it. Frames with difficulty easy should be straightforward to do yourself. We recommend sending in frames with medium or hard difficulties.
  • We also believe and understand that some frame brands install their lenses in a way it’s difficult for customers to remove lenses, or replace new ones. If you have any worry about changing the lenses yourself, just opt to send your frames in and our expert technicians will do it for you. (No extra cost)
